SETPRO
SKILL-POWER TRAINING CENTER
Dear
Parent, Coach or Player,
How
would you like to add 75 feet to your hitters long ball or 8 MPH
to your pitchers fastball in ONE DAY! Attending our one day seminars
can do just that.
Why
we can make this claim.
SETPRO
designs and sells the most advance baseball specific training systems
available. For over six years, thousands of players of all ages
have dramatically increased their baseball and softball skills using
SETPRO’s training products.
“I
have trained over 300 players in the past two years using SETPRO’s
products and methods. All have increase bat speed by 10 or more
MPH in 6 weeks or less” Karl Schilling, The Power Zone, Central,
SC
“Players
like Alex Rodreguez demand the best. SETPRO products are a vital
part of my instruction and training” Charlie Lau Junior
“I
hear great things about SETPRO Products and Training methods from
our customers” Rita and Dave Hudgens
“In
my 20 years of baseball, I really never understood the mechanics
of hitting because no one could ever explain them. In one day, I
learned more than 20 years of playing baseball” Mark Johnson, Professional
Player, Hanshin Tgers of Japan’s Central League.”
We
have taken our training and mechanics expertise and created a uniquely
powerful one day hitting and pitching seminar. These seminars are
held at SETPRO’s Skill-Power Training Center in Branford, CT.
How
it works, you have four choices
A
half day seminar on hitting or pitching, your choice. You can do
one or the other (half day each). Or you can do both and have a
full day covering hitting in the morning, pitching in the afternoon.
Or you can do our full day covering just hitting or the full day
covering just pitching where the player is put through testing and
his mechanics are reviewed and analyzed.
Half
day seminars are intended to give you the most information in the
shortest amount of time. They are the most advance “classrooms”
on hitting and pitching mechanics and training. They go far beyond
any of the video tape programs on hitting and pitching.
Half
day seminars. Morning covers hitting or pitching (depends on date)
and afternoon covers pitching of hitting (depends on date).

Hitting Mechanics. The first half of the morning is used to discuss hitting mechanics using
the following format:
The
four most popular schools of hitting, Ted Williams “Rotational”,
Charlie Lau “Weight Shift”, Mike Schmidt “Hybrid” and Doyle “No
Stride” are examined and their differences and similarities are
used to explain and understand the hitting process.
- The kinetic chain, what
it is and how it works.
- How the kinetic chain
explains the role of the lower and upper body
- The difference between
momentum and strength and how to use it to develop maximum bat
speed.
- “Hitting posture” it’s
dramatic effect on the swing and a new way to understand and teach
hitting mechanics
- The timing process.
What it is, how it works, how it affects mechanics
- Vision, the great unknown.
Tips and techniques
You
will see how SETPRO has analyzed the hitting process to develop
totally new ways of looking at mechanics and teaching the hitting
process.
Symptoms
versus problems. The swing is a high speed sequence of muscle-body
movements. Many times what coaches “think” is the problem is really
a symptom of the real problem. Many hours and sometimes a player’s
career are wasted on efforts that do not address the real problem.
After learning how the hitting process works “real world examples’
will be used to show how to identify hitting “symptoms” from “hitting
problems”.
The
use of video of players at all levels is used to illustrate and
explain these concepts.
10:00-10:15
AM Break
10:15-12:00
Noon Training a hitter to reach their genetic potential. Covers the entire training
process from strength (resistance, weights) to sport specific training.
Learn how 99 out of 100 hitters add 10 or more MPH to their bat
speed in 4-6 weeks. And how the motivated players add 20+ MPH or
more. Goes beyond anything currently available. Topics include:
- The role of strength
and speed in producing power and how the body does both
- The role of variation
and it’s importance to maximizing your return on your training
efforts
- Specificity of training,
the most misunderstood training concept in sports.
- Identifying your training
needs and how to determine the best program to meet those needs
- Functional training,
forward into the future or back to the past
- Typical training programs
for Little League, High School, College and Professional baseball
and softball players, from strength to skill.
By
the end of the morning I guarantee you will know more about the
hitting process and the advanced techniques to train a player to
reach their maximum potential than 97 out of 100 coaches and instructors.
Half
day seminar on pitching

PM Registration
1:00
PM-2:45 PM Pitching Mechanics. The first half of the morning is used to discuss pitching
mechanics. Theories and methods of the popular pitching “advocates”,
Tom House, Bill Thuston, Dick Mills and others as well as pitching
concepts such “drop and
drive”, push vs. pull”, “tall and fall are examined and their differences
and similarities are used to explain and understand the pitching
process. You will then learn how SETPRO has developed a comprehensive
model of the pitching process (mechanics) and a teaching system/method
that goes far beyond what is traditionally taught. For the first
time you will see all of the pieces “pulled together” including:
- Understanding the pitching
kinetic chain and; your key to pitching mechanics
- How the body develops
pitching power. The difference between pitching force and pitching
momentum and how to maximize the two.
- Arm action, the most
important and least understood part of mechanics.
- Putting it all together,
from toes to fingers
The
use of video of players at all levels is used to illustrate and
explain these concepts (Nolan Ryan, Pedro Martinez, Billy Wagner,
and others).
2:45-3:00
PM Break.
3:00-5:00
PM
How to train a pitcher to reach their genetic potential.
Covers the entire training process from strength (resistance, weights)
to sport specific training. We show you how any pitchers can add
10% or more to their pitching velocity in 6 to 8 weeks.
- The role of strength
and speed in producing pitching power and how the body does both
- The role of variation
and it’s importance to maximizing your return on your training
efforts
- Specificity of training,
the most misunderstood training concept in sports.
- Identifying your training
needs and how to determine the best program to meet those needs
- The facts about functional
training, are we going forward into the future or backwards to
the past?
- Typical training programs
for Little League, High School, College and Professional baseball,
going from strength to power to skill.
Maximum
number of attendees per session is 15. You must register in advance.
One
day full seminars on hitting and pitching. A one day seminar designed for Parent/Coach
AND Player attending TOGETHER
(individual coaches or players may attend, but seminars will always
have players in attendance). Parent/Coach and Player
learn together. As part of this learning process, players are video
taped and analyzed in the afternoon session. The combination of
classroom and “hands on” makes this an extremely powerfull learning
environment for both player and coach-parent.
8:00-8:30
Arrival and Registration (All players need to arrive by 8:20) The
morning session is divided into two parts.
8:30-9:45
Player evaluations. The first half of the morning is used to evaluate and video tape all players
in attendance. These video tapes are used in he afternoon session
to “bring together” everything you learn during the rest of the
day.

Hitting Mechanics How the body learns and
performs baseball skills. In 120 minutes you will learn more about mechanics than
90% of all of the coaches and instructors. The four most popular schools of hitting, Ted
Williams “Rotational”, Charlie Lau “Weight Shift”, Mike Schmidt
“Hybrid” and Doyle “No Stride” are examined and their differences
and similarities are used to explain and understand the hitting
process.

- How to go from mechanics
to maximum potential
You
will learn how The use of video of players at all levels is used
to illustrate and explain these concepts.
You learn by seeing the mechanics that made Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig,
Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey, Sammy Sosa, Nomar Garciapara and others
achieve greatness.
We
teach no one system. We teach the how and why and then let the player
find his mechanics that allows him to maximize his/her natural abilities.

morning program.
1:00
PM-2:30 (speed, quickness, agility
and power) You will learn how the muscles and nervous
system learns and performs physical skills.
What the specificity of training principle as applied to
baseball really is. You will learn how to train the body to achieve
your maximum genetic potential in developing the “5” tools.
